All dicussion related Vocaloids is welcome here. Note that mikuchan-related discussion goes to /site/. Notable threads News thread Vocaloid 3 Hatsune Miku Live Party 2011
The fanbase of Vocaloid has gotten horrid. It used to be a general mix of people that just enjoyed the music for what it was or enjoyed the novelty. Now it's a bunch of 14 year old fangirls that remind me of Gaia and homosuck. It's ruining the whole experience for me.
>>1952 This is true, but before I didn't see many, if any of "these types of members". If they do morph miraculously into people that I don't want to punch in the face, well, I won't be around to see it, because I've already written them off and I don't want to hear anything from them. Possibly slightly closed minded, but it's for my sanity's sake. >>1953 Again, it's less about being new, that's fine. I was new at one point. It's more about the attitude. The overwhelming ZOMG YAOI FANFIC KAWAII DESUU~~~~ *^_^* of it. It's like VocaloidOtaku (the gaia of Vocaloid) has infected this imageboard with it's nonsense. >>1954 The tone of your post is really condescending and annoying. And drop the coy "anonymous" bit. Man, I still love 4chan, but I hate what it's been made into. Being anonymous isn't a thing. It's the absence of a thing. Maybe me tripping on these boards is a mistake. I'm still not sure how I feel about tripcodes. Either way, you don't speak for everyone, so don't pretend to, it's well, pretentious.
I was thinking about it further and I think an easy way of illustrating this is the My Little Pony fan community. I think I can speak for most people that I don't really judge them for what they like, it's not a big deal. But the way they act is horrendous. They feel a need to insert their fandom into everything. I feel like the newer fanbase of Vocaloid is more brony than fan. It's the aspect of obnoxious behavior that's the lamentable part. So, as a fan of Vocaloid myself, I'd rather not be associated with that kind of distasteful individual. I think perhaps that's a more understandable, succinct, way of putting it.
>>1956 1954 here. My apologies, I was simply trying to take a lighthearted approach, not come across as condescending. I will correct, I never meant to identify with 4chan's concept of anonymous, I was simply playing off of the name given to people who don't use a tripcode. (That is what they're called, right?) Please, believe me when I say I wasn't trying to speak for anyone but myself, it's just that everyone happens to have the same name. Honestly though, I have to ask. So? What's your point? I've yet to see a fanbase that DOESN'T change like this at some point. It may belie my age, but I can still remember stories of Eternal September, and how it killed Usenet. WoW, Homestuck, 4chan, SA, Reddit, Facepunch... It's like there's some critical mass of popularity. My question is, what are you going to do about it? Should the community become more hostile to newcomers, growing more ingrained and elitist? Why not slap on restrictions to posting, that'll sure solve a lot of problems while still staying true to the *chan framework! If the fanbase has truly gotten horrid, there's two options ahead of you: Get out, or try and have a civil discussion on how to make the environment better. Just complaining does nothing.
Despite the technological advancements made with the new Vocaloids and everything, I still feel an... emotional attachment to Miku the most, despite her being "outdated" compared to the newer versions. It feels kinda weird. Even with the newer versions sounding more and more realistic, I still like the Miku character the best. It feels like I should like the others more on a technical level but... it's something that's kinda weird to explain and doesn't seem logical to someone who tends to think logically, or at least I would like to believe that. Posted this in general since I'm sure there are others who feel the same way about other Vocaloids.
The newer models aren't here to replace Miku.
Exactly. Miku can never be replaced. Most fans like her because she sounds like she does...like Miku. If you want a singer who sounds perfectly human, why not listen to human singers, heh?
I understand. I don't even like Append. It's too real in a way. It doesn't sound like Miku. I like Miku for Miku, flaws and all. Maybe it's the character, maybe it's nostalgia, but I still think Miku sounds "better" than the rest. I suppose it's much like how I feel about other synthesizers. If you can accurately replicate the sound of something (but still be off by a bit) it sounds too much like the thing you're attempting to replicate, but still "off" in a way. Whereas a traditional synth sounds well, synthy. I like that "synthy" sound of Miku's voice.
So, here it is, freeware Project DIVA for PC with a large ammount of songs. http://www.nyaa.eu/?page=torrentinfo&tid=178806
I tried PjD PC a few months ago but wasn't very impressed then... Maybe I should stop being lazy and give it another try.
Additional songs 11 for Project DIVA PC http://www.nyaa.eu/?page=torrentinfo&tid=264045

So I think that my favorite producer is OSter and I was wondering what other songs she has done recently? (I know I just fell in love with Alice in Musicland because of how well tuned she made Miku and the gang and her original scores)
this is the official page with the discography xttp://fuwafuwacinnamon.sakura.ne.jp/disco.html this is the "mylist" page on NND xttp://www.nicovideo.jp/mylist/2578149 seems that the last song has been posted 2 days ago

A news thread was in /miku/, but really should be here. The problem is that most of shitty newsmakers from mass media usually don't make enough research on the matter, thus don't make any difference between Miku and Vocaloid stuff. Well, whatever. Teh News Thread starts here. Miku hype with "sudden" revealing of SeyrenLK's YT vids of Sega's concert from 9 March 2010 was nearly a year ago, but one can't underestimate the slowpoke level of journalists: sort of a hype is starting again! I dunno what triggered it, but here's a buhch of recorded tv and radio shows, starting with the french TV, yes.
MMD is making its own way to popularity. A surprisingly correct article: http://www.usnewslasvegas.com/entertainment/anime-version-of-everybody-wows-moymoy-palaboy-duo-rest-of-the-world/ by Hoshifura @ VO
>>1724 Yeah, that's an impressively comprehensive article about one PV. I didn't even know who the middle character was, because I don't know UTAUloids very well. Good to see that at least some journalists research the issue before writing.
>>1725 Hope more and more people start doing some actual research, like - you know - a journalist is supposed to do. >>1609 The la concert was probably what put Miku on the European map, though it's more correlation than causality: most of all media coverage outside of Japan has focused on the 2010 concert (specifically World is Mine only) more so than the 2011 Mikunopolis.
So i'm getting word that Kaito's English Append and Miku's English Append has been officially announced and "E-Miku" is scheduled to ship in the Spring of 2012. anyone excited as I am? source: http://vocaloidotaku.net/index.php?/topic/23562-new-york-anime-festival-2-vocaloid-panels/ DEMOS ARE NOW OUT! Kaito: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LGOdmgEsMzc holy shit, kaito actually sounds REALLY good! Miku: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BOKjpt_lJRU it's hard to hear what she's saying, but that doesn't mean the VB is in horrible quality atleast i hope to god it isnt. the music played with the VB demo made it hard to hear. in any case, i'm just VERY happy they're actually developing her voice into english. I hope she sounds just as clear as kaito does when a better demo comes out 50minute Hatsune Miku panel: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G_LX0wGI34o Message too long. Click here to view the full text.
Sega has banned those NYAF "panel" vids. Scaldothepartymaster, i hope your account wasn't banned...
Well, the thing about the English Appends is that they become a major attraction for novice/casual users like me, especially now that Vocaloid 3 is following a separate editor-separate vb model. Some sounds are just impossible to reproduce in a jploid bank without a whole load of trickery that is beyond the ability of novices and are thus frustrating. I see the English Appends as a way to complement the existing vbs, not something to be used on its own. Of course, this depends on whether or not you can get the Append banks to run on Vocaloid 3's editor without needing the main vb; I've not been able to find any record of success from anyone who's tried it with the existing Appends.
Hahaha, I like how someone says "Oh my god!" When it starts playing. DEVELOPERS DEVELOPERS DEVELOPERS DEVELOPERS DEVELOPERS DEVELOPERS DEVELOPERS DEVELOPERS
Any idea what this is?
>>1933 .....is that good or bad?
>>1934 lets just say that I'm not that much a fan of Powerpuff grls... ESPECIALLY the Japanese version
>>1935 Well I don't think it will have anything to do with PPGZ I think it will only be American Style PPG.
