The classy Vocaloid community

Welcome to the new server!

Yes hello! by NekoArc - 12/21/11 @ 01:59 PM PST #

After a nice-sized spam attack by one very butthurt individual, all the offending posts have been cleared out. In addition, we've moved onto a better server! While a few little things are being sorted out, reCaptcha has been enabled on the boards. If there's any problems or issues, feel free to let us know on /site/ or on IRC. Have a Merry Christmas!

We dine well here at Mikuchan by Boku - 08/21/11 @ 05:14 AM PDT #

...we eat negis and tunas and spam a lot.

So anyway, there's been a spate of spam on a number of boards which is why they are all locked for now. We (well, mostly everyone but myself) are doing something about it. Stay tuned, Miku fans.

Update: Boards are unlocked again and ReCaptcha has been implemented until either the spam subsides or a better alternative is found.

New board for site discussion, site redesign by nipah - 07/25/11 @ 01:40 PM PDT #

We created a new board for site-related discussions, called /site/. If you have any comments or questions regarding mikuchan, please post them there.

Somewhat related, you may have noticed that we're currently changing the styles such as banners and color themes of mikuchan. There is a thread for comments and updates regarding this redesign.

Update: Another new board, /ani/, is up for trial. This is a board for all you fans and users of MikuMikuDance, as well as fans of 2D and 3D animation in general.

Alternate IRC addresses by nipah - 07/18/11 @ 10:23 AM PDT #

Because of denial of service attacks or some such, our main IRC address (irc.tsukihi.me) may be inaccessible at times. If you're attempting to connect to our IRC and the main address isn't responding, try one of these alternate servers:

Board Cleanups by NekoArc - 04/09/11 @ 03:07 PM PDT #

Over the course of tonight and tomorrow, we'll be removing boards and merging quality content of the inactive ones into /vocaloid/. The board listing will also be reorganized and all the linked sites will be redone. In addition, this site will probably be moving to a more powerful server in the near future. More details coming soon.

Something different, something foreign. by NekoArc - 03/05/11 @ 01:05 PM PST #

One new board, one new linked board.
jp.mikuchan.org/voc/ - VOCALOID
This is for our Japanese friends so they can talk in their native language.
For the linked board, it's something a little bit different. It uses a script to prevent duplicate text content in threads.
/r9k/ - ROBOT9000

That's all this time~

IRC Issues by NekoArc - 02/01/11 @ 04:31 PM PST #

due to the irc hub magically disappearing, we had some server issues.
Please update your client to connect to irc.nekoarc.org for time being.
I apologize for any rude interruption to quality chats this may have caused. ;-;
Update: the regular irc link should be working now.

Miku Catsune has arrived! by NekoArc - 01/30/11 @ 01:13 PM PST #

OKAY... not really, but I have some better news:
Post Editing!
There's only one little imitation, any bbcode used will stripped from the posts, so it has to be put back in when you do edits.

Happy posting!

Fusion ha! by tsukihime - 12/10/10 @ 11:33 PM PST #

/jp/ was deader than a sack of potatoes in a boot. So I redirected it to uboachan's /n/ board, which covers the content of /jp/ as well as for if you had an /a/. If there are any questions about uboachan or /n/ specifically, ask me in IRC.

IRC by NekoArc - 12/01/10 @ 07:21 PM PST #

Due to the death of helldive, #Mikuchan IRC has been moved to irc.tsukihi.me #mikuchan
Please update your server connects. Thanks~

My apologies, I was simply trying to take a lighthearted approach, not come across as condescending. I will correct, I never meant to identify with 4chan's concept of anonymous, I was simply playing off of the name given to people who don't use a tripcode. (That is what they're called, right?) Please, believe me when I say I wasn't trying to speak for anyone but myself, it's just that everyone happens to have the same name.

Honestly though, I have to ask. So? What's your point? I've yet to see a fanbase that DOESN'T change like this at some point. It may belie my age, but I can still remember stories of Eternal September, and how it killed Usenet. WoW, Homestuck, 4chan, SA, Reddit, Facepunch... It's like there's some critical mass of popularity. My question is, what are you going to do about it? Should the community become more hostile to newcomers, growing more ingrained and elitist? Why not slap on restrictions to posting, that'll sure solve a lot of problems while still staying true to the *chan framework! If the fanbase has truly gotten horrid, there's two options ahead of you: Get out, or try and have a civil discussion on how to make the environment better. Just complaining does nothing.

I understand. I don't even like Append. It's too real in a way. It doesn't sound like Miku. I like Miku for Miku, flaws and all. Maybe it's the character, maybe it's nostalgia, but I still think Miku sounds "better" than the rest.

I suppose it's much like how I feel about other synthesizers. If you can accurately replicate the sound of something (but still be off by a bit) it sounds too much like the thing you're attempting to replicate, but still "off" in a way. Whereas a traditional synth sounds well, synthy. I like that "synthy" sound of Miku's voice.
